In a statement he issued, the constitutional lawyer claimed that the orchestration of fund transfers was primarily instigated by civil servants, particularly the permanent secretaries of the respective ministries. Adeyanju suggested that civil servants strategically induced politicians and political appointees to contravene civil service laws, providing them with leverage to perpetrate corruption without facing challenges.

He called upon the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to broaden its investigation to encompass all federal ministries, emphasizing that justice should not only be achieved but also visibly demonstrated in addressing these allegations.

A leaked memo revealed that Edu had purportedly authorized the payment of N585 million in social intervention funds to a private account belonging to a civil servant. In response to this revelation, President Tinubu suspended Edu pending further investigation into her alleged involvement in the N585 million fraud. The president also directed the EFCC to probe the accusations and ensure a thorough examination of all ministries, not limiting the inquiry to the Humanitarian Affairs ministry alone.
