Court Blocks Ogun Government From Tearing Down Gbenga Daniel’s Properties
A High Court in Sagamu, Ogun State, has granted an interim order preventing the state government and its officials from demolishing or interfering with properties owned by former governor Gbenga Daniel.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Ogun State government had previously issued a quit and demolition notice for Daniel’s private residence and hotels in Sagamu. The affected properties include his residence, known as Asoludero Court, its annex, and the Conference Hotel, all located on Obafemi Awolowo Avenue, GRA, Sagamu.
Daniel, through his lawyer A.M. Kotoye SAN, filed motions in three separate suits seeking ex parte orders to restrain Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Attorney General of Ogun State, the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development from interfering with the properties, which also include a property belonging to his wife.
The suits, marked HCS/371/2025, HCS/373/2025, and HCS/372/2025, requested that the court prevent any demolition or tampering with Asoludero Court, Daniel’s wife’s property, Conference Hotel, and Blue Chapel Limited. Daniel stated that the property holds a valid Certificate of Occupancy (No. LUD3/LR2693, dated January 20, 2010).
Counsel Adeyinka Kotoye (SAN) filed the ex parte motions on August 11, 2025, urging the court to intervene immediately.
In her ruling, Justice O.S. Oloyede emphasized the urgency of the matter after reviewing all supporting affidavits and granted the interim order restraining the defendants and their agents from interfering with the properties.
The case has been adjourned to August 19, 2025, for the hearing of the application for an interlocutory injunction.
