He specifically pointed to the case of Maryam Shetty, asserting that this situation indicated a lack of thorough scrutiny on the part of the president’s team.
He further criticized the decision to replace Shetty while she was en route to the screening process, labeling it as a disgraceful oversight.
The founder of Ovation magazine stated that the current batch of ministers introduced by Tinubu includes several individuals who are relatively unknown, a departure from the past practice.
Momodu reminisced about past governments, citing the example of Ibrahim Babangida’s administration, which boasted a roster of memorable figures.
He contrasted this with the current scenario, expressing his disappointment in the absence of well-recognized personalities among the nominees.
He highlighted the period when notable individuals like Akinyele, Bolaji Akinyemi, Bolasodun Ajibola, Tai Solarin, and Wole Soyinka served in leadership positions, underscoring that today’s nominees do not carry the same weight.
Moreover, Momodu criticized the abrupt removal of nominees during the screening process, citing it as an indication that due diligence was not performed prior to their appointments.
Comparing the present administration to earlier ones, he mentioned luminaries such as Okonjo-Iweala, Ezekesili, and Nuhu Ribadu who were part of previous governments.
He also referred to Nasir El-Rufai during his tenure as a minister under the PDP, characterizing him as an original version of himself.
In conclusion, Momodu expressed his belief that a successful leader relies heavily on a competent team and prudent counsel.
He likened the situation to that of a journalist without proper editing, suggesting that without proper guidance, a leader can inadvertently propagate misinformation.
