Naija News reports that the two Kano State lawmakers have been embroiled in a dispute, primarily concerning former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. Jibrin had warned Doguwa to stop making derogatory comments about Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and founder of the Kwankwasiyya movement. Doguwa contends that it was Kwankwaso who initially insulted APC members in Kano.

In response to Jibrin’s allegations, Doguwa, who represents the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, issued a statement dismissing the accusations as part of a political scheme to undermine his support. He expressed confidence in his innocence and criticized Jibrin’s claims as baseless.

Doguwa explained that despite advice to ignore Jibrin, he felt it necessary to defend his integrity and the honor of his constituents. He criticized Jibrin’s tactics and accused him of political misconduct.

Doguwa’s statement read: “I am compelled to address Abdulmumin Jibrin’s recent statements regarding alleged violence in my constituency during the last elections. Despite advice to dismiss his ‘tissue of lies,’ I must respond to protect my reputation and ethical standing as a public servant.

“Jibrin’s allegations are part of a plot to subvert the will of the electorate who have consistently supported me. I have been exonerated by the police and courts, with three separate courts declaring me innocent. A Federal High Court in Abuja even awarded me ₦25 million in damages for defamation.

“The unrest in my constituency was instigated by political opponents. NNPP members involved in the crisis admitted to being hired to disrupt my election. I am not facing any trial for alleged murder or politically motivated violence.

“I challenge Jibrin to provide evidence for his claim, especially regarding the killing of seven PDP supporters in 2019. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso witnessed these events. Jibrin’s actions were widely reported, and he was arrested along with 70 others by the police.

“I leave Jibrin’s allegations to public opinion and media scrutiny. I stand firm in my innocence and believe the truth will prevail.

“I regret not heeding advice to ignore Jibrin’s claims but felt it necessary to defend my integrity. I also challenge Jibrin to reveal the so-called bombshells he claims could lead to my expulsion from the APC. Instead, he should be mindful of potential legal actions from Sen. Kwankwaso, Governor Abba, and Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki for his alleged involvement in political violence in 2019.

“I remain resolute in my commitment to truth and justice.
