Speaking at this year’s AU-Anti Corruption Day road walk in Ilorin on Thursday, Olukoyede stressed the necessity for genuine commitment, passion, consistency, and credibility in the fight against corruption.

“We cannot effectively combat corruption through mere lip service, emotional outbursts, or spontaneous public campaigns,” he asserted. “What is required is steadfast commitment, genuine passion, consistent effort, and reliable intelligence.”

Represented by Acting Zonal Director, Harry Erin, Olukoyede reminded Nigerians of the pervasive impact of corruption on society, noting that both internet fraudsters and those who plunder national resources pose significant threats to national progress.

He urged citizens not to turn a blind eye to internet fraudsters and emphasized that whistleblowing presents a vital opportunity to combat corruption effectively. “Let us fully embrace whistleblowing as our own tool to combat corruption,” he urged.

The road walk, which commenced at the EFCC command’s office, was part of the activities commemorating the 2024 African Union Anti-Corruption Day, themed “Effective Whistleblower Protection Mechanism: A Critical Tool in the Fight Against Corruption.”

Participants included state government officials, law enforcement agencies, media representatives, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, academia, and members of the public, all invited by the EFCC to collaborate in the collective effort against the multifaceted challenge of corruption.
