The Federal Government has cautioned Nigerians about a fake recruitment message circulating online, describing it as a scam designed to defraud unsuspecting individuals.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the message falsely advertises job openings in the Nigerian Diplomatic Service, particularly within consular sections of embassies abroad.

The ministry explained that the message claims certain candidates have already been shortlisted and instructs them to pay money for processing a so-called “credence note.” It dismissed this as entirely false, warning that it is a tactic used by fraudsters to exploit victims.

According to the ministry, there is currently no recruitment exercise into Nigeria’s foreign missions. It urged the public to ignore such messages, stressing that they do not originate from any official source.

The government further clarified that recruitment into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Foreign Service is never conducted through emails, WhatsApp messages, or unsolicited contacts. It noted that all legitimate hiring processes are handled exclusively by the Federal Civil Service Commission through official channels.

Part of the statement read: “The ministry wishes to clearly state that this message is fake, misleading, and the work of fraudsters seeking to deceive the public.

“No payment is required at any stage of recruitment or diplomatic postings within the ministry or Nigeria’s missions abroad.

“The ministry has not authorised any individual or organisation to collect money on its behalf for employment or diplomatic appointments.

“The mention of DSS clearance and the use of the spokesperson’s name in the message are deliberate attempts to mislead the public.
