stating that his endorsement aimed to uphold his integrity and convey to the Nigerian populace the importance of perseverance and dedication for success, without resorting to quick fixes.

During the interview on a state-owned Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) program, Buhari argued that Nigerians were challenging to govern.

He noted that citizens often knew the right course of action but would resist, thinking they knew better than the person in leadership.

Addressing criticism of his aides’ integrity during his eight years in power, Buhari remarked, “It is their problem,” questioning the actions of those who vehemently criticized him in their efforts to combat corruption.

Buhari emphasized that his administration prioritized accountability and acknowledged being persistently approached at his home, suggesting that if the nearby country’s border had not closed, he might have left Nigeria.

Despite being “harassed,” Buhari expressed contentment with waking up at any time and asserted that he did not miss anything after leaving government.

He highlighted that while serving as president, he focused on securing the country and did not engage in acquiring extensive personal wealth like some in Nigeria’s affluent class.

Regarding attempts to set traps for him, Buhari claimed to have avoided compromising situations, emphasizing that God’s intervention through technology in the 2015 elections contributed to his victory.

He underscored the motivation behind the controversial naira policy as a means to instill the belief that there are no shortcuts to successful leadership in a developing country like Nigeria.
