Ayinla’s health condition is reported to be severe, requiring him to receive oxygen support during his stay at the hospital. Although the family has opted to keep specific details about his health confidential, it is apparent that his situation is quite critical. Despite efforts to reach Ayinla directly or through his family, there has been no response.

Born in August 1949 in Ilota, Kwara State, Kollington Ayinla, also known by aliases such as Baba Alatika, Kebe-n-Kwara, and Baba Alagbado, played a pivotal role alongside his late friend and rival, Ayinde Barrister, in dominating the Fuji music scene for decades. Their contributions significantly fueled the popularity of the genre.

During the mid-1970s to late ’80s, both Kollington and Barrister stood out as leading stars in Nigerian Fuji music. Over time, as the Fuji genre gained widespread recognition and the market expanded, the rivalry between the two musicians diminished. In 1983, Ayinla and Barrister were present together as mourners at the funeral of Apala star Haruna Ishola. Ayinde Barrister passed away on December 16, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in London.

As of now, the family has not issued an official statement regarding Kollington Ayinla’s health, leaving the public concerned about the well-being of this iconic figure in Nigerian music
