Wike addressed the pressing issues of land degradation, desertification, and drought, noting their severe impact on Nigeria’s ecosystems and communities. He underscored the need for collective action to combat unsustainable practices such as deforestation and urbanization, which exacerbate these challenges.

In response to Abuja’s urbanization and its associated environmental pressures, Wike outlined plans to enhance the city’s resilience to climate risks. This includes expanding green spaces within Abuja to preserve its environmental balance and improve citizens’ well-being.

Osi Braimah, Director of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), echoed Wike’s sentiments, urging Nigerians to prioritize ecosystem restoration. He emphasized the urgency of collective efforts in reclaiming degraded lands and fostering a sustainable environment for future generations.
