Policy Alert, an organization that focuses on fiscal policy and ecological justice in the Niger Delta, previously issued a statement through its Programme Officer, Fiscal Reforms and Anti-Corruption, Faith Paulinus.
In the statement, they asserted that the Supplementary Budget presented to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly included allocations for projects that had already been officially commissioned, as well as a provision for 90 SUVs for the office of the Secretary to the State Government and plans for excessive borrowing.
However, Eno’s Media Aide, Reverend Peters, refuted these allegations in a statement released on Wednesday.
He clarified that the governor had submitted a Supplementary Budget that outlined the financial plan for the completion of specific projects inherited from the previous administration, not for projects that had already been commissioned.
Peters urged the group to conduct a more thorough investigation and verify their data before making public statements.
He also recalled that during his campaigns, the governor had pledged to finish projects initiated by the previous administration.
