Abeokuta: Highlighting the economic challenges currently facing Nigerians, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, expressed concerns over the consistent rise in petrol prices and the dwindling value of the naira, stating that these developments are pushing Nigerians to the brink.

During her address at the 9th annual convention of the Women Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) South West Zone, themed “Abounding Grace,” Mrs. Abiodun emphasized the fear and anxiety that these challenging times have instilled in the citizens, wealthy and poor alike. The event, held at the Apostolic Church in Abeokuta, saw empowerment drives, award ceremonies, and the investiture of prominent individuals.

Reflecting on the economic situation, Mrs. Abiodun remarked, “The escalating petrol prices and the plummeting value of our naira are alarming. These aren’t just numbers; they influence every facet of our lives, from food prices to daily necessities. Yet, in these testing times, our faith and trust in God remain our pillars of strength.”

Odunola Raji-Adebesin, the Southwest zonal chairperson of WOWICAN, echoed similar sentiments, urging Christian women across the country to assert their leadership roles and continuously pray for Nigeria’s prosperity. She emphasized, “WOWICAN members, equipped with intellectual prowess and divine ambition, must step forward and claim their rightful positions in the nation.”

With Nigeria grappling with economic and societal challenges, leaders and citizens alike look towards unity, faith, and proactive solutions to navigate the tumultuous times.
