In separate statements during an interview with DAILY POST, the parties called on the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) to maintain credibility and avoid provoking the public.

Tokunbo Peters, the Labour Party’s state publicity secretary, affirmed that party agents will be stationed at polling units to ensure results from OGSIEC align with those at the polling sites. If discrepancies arise, Peters warned, the party would mobilize supporters for a public protest.

Highlighting the party’s extensive grassroots campaign across all 20 local government areas, Peters emphasized that Labour Party representatives are fully prepared and determined to hold OGSIEC accountable. “We’ll insist that we get the result sheets immediately after vote counting. If the declared results do not match those counted, we will call our supporters to protest, in addition to pursuing legal action,” he stated.

DAILY POST also reported that Governor Dapo Abiodun had claimed on Sunday that opposition parties would be “invisible” in the elections, boasting of a landslide win for the ruling APC in all 20 LGAs due to his administration’s achievements and candidate quality.

Peters countered these claims, accusing the APC of planning to rig the election, stating, “The APC has failed the state and the nation and is barely campaigning. Their only path to victory is through rigging.”

In response, Tunde Oladunjoye, APC’s publicity secretary, argued that the ruling party’s track record speaks for itself, saying the APC is prepared to win and enjoys unwavering local support.

Meanwhile, PDP state chairman Abayomi Tella urged OGSIEC and all parties to adhere strictly to election guidelines to ensure a peaceful process. He emphasized that his party would accept the outcome if conducted fairly, but would resist any attempt at covert manipulation.

Abayomi Sanyaolu, chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and Action Alliance, also reiterated the importance of a fair process and pledged to hold OGSIEC accountable to their promise of a transparent election.

OGSIEC chairman Babatunde Osibodu reassured that all parties would be treated equally and that the election would be free, fair, and credible. He urged Ogun residents to vote confidently, citing collaboration with security agencies to ensure maximum safety on election day.
