In a statement released on Tuesday, Abdullahi lauded the legislation’s focus on harnessing renewable energy and promoting energy efficiency. “I particularly commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for signing the Lagos Electricity Bill 2024 into law. This is a significant milestone in Nigeria’s pursuit of energy diversification. The law encourages the use of various energy sources, including renewables, while fostering investment, competition, and innovation within the electricity sector,” Abdullahi said.
He also highlighted the alignment of the new law with the ECN’s vision of leveraging diverse energy solutions for sustainability. “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to using renewable resources and other energy alternatives to secure a brighter, more sustainable future for Nigeria,” he added.
