He revealed that a technical committee has been formed to assess the condition of the dams, including key facilities such as the Challawa Gorge Dam and Tiga Dam.
“The establishment of the technical committee to evaluate the state of Kano’s dams, including the Challawa Gorge and Tiga Dams, will significantly boost irrigation and agricultural output, in line with the Hon. Minister Joseph Utsev’s objective to optimize these facilities in Kano,” Kwankwaso said.
He also emphasized that the ₦95 billion appropriation for the dam rehabilitation, secured by Senator Kawu Sumaila from southern Kano, highlights President Tinubu’s commendable efforts. Additionally, the launch of the North West Development Commission, led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin’s support, will bring prosperity to the region, reflecting the administration’s commitment to Kano and the broader North West.
Kwankwaso lauded Senator Kawu Sumaila’s critical role in securing the funding and acknowledged the instrumental support of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin in the creation of the North West Development Commission. He assured the President that his appointment had rekindled a renewed focus on implementing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and key stakeholders, including APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Hon. Abba Bichi, for their consistent backing.
He described his appointment to the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority as an honor for the Kano people and members of the All Progressives Congress, reflecting the President’s positive vision for both the state and the nation. Kwankwaso also praised the leadership team at the Authority, noting that its composition ensures a robust effort toward advancing President Tinubu’s aspirations.
Kwankwaso further lauded the administration’s broader infrastructure agenda, highlighting major projects like the Kano-Kaduna-Abuja expressway and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, which are set for completion in 2025. “The completion of the Kano to Kaduna and Abuja expressway, alongside the AKK pipeline project, will reinforce the President’s steadfast commitment to Kano and the North,” he concluded.
