Highlighting the change from OMPADEC to NDDC in 2000, Dokubo-Asari interpreted this alteration as signaling the NDDC’s focus on exclusively addressing the concerns of oil-producing regions within the Niger Delta states of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers State.

In a statement addressed to the President, Dokubo-Asari expressed appreciation for the restoration of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, viewing it as a reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to understanding the unique challenges faced by the Niger Delta region and his dedication to resolving them.
