The announcement of the proposed charges has particularly affected rural dwellers, who heavily rely on PoS services for convenient withdrawals and deposits. Concerned POS Operators in Nigeria have condemned the increase, describing it as excessive and detrimental to the masses.

In response to the growing outrage, the CBN has stated that it is engaging with the PoS operators to find a resolution to the issue. However, despite the ongoing discussions, reports indicate that operators in some regions of the country have already implemented the new charges.

In Lagos State, some PoS operators continue to apply the previous service charges, while in certain parts of Ogun State, customers are still being subjected to high fees, especially in areas with limited access to traditional banks.

The situation has raised concerns among Nigerians, who are urging the government and relevant stakeholders to address the issue and alleviate the financial strain on citizens.
