In a statement released by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, on Wednesday, Arase urged the leaders of the region to find effective ways to persuade the youths to seize the opportunities presented by the current recruitment drive.
The statement emphasized that it would be challenging to address claims of marginalization from the South East if the people continue to show indifference to the Federal Government’s offer of employment to Nigerian youths in the Police Force.
Arase called upon the South East to make the most of the remaining five weeks for enrolling in the NPF. He pointed out that since the region is currently experiencing significant unrest from non-state actors, the youth should actively join the Police Force and contribute indigenous solutions to this issue.
The statement also provided statistics regarding the leading states in the ongoing recruitment applications:
- Kaduna State leads with 20,259 youths who have already completed online applications.
- Adamawa State follows with 18,933 applications.
- Other states with notable application numbers include Borno (18,305), Bauchi (16,554), Katsina (16,232), and Kano (15,888).
On the other hand, Anambra State lags behind with lower application numbers, followed by Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo. Bayelsa, Enugu, Lagos, Delta, and Edo also have fewer applicants.
According to the statement, a total of 242,391 males have completed their applications, while only 35,405 females have applied.
