Maiwada expressed disappointment at the serious allegations questioning the integrity of the ongoing e-auction process, emphasizing that the NCS is a law-abiding government organization committed to maintaining high levels of accountability and transparency. He categorically denied engaging in fraudulent activities or underhand dealings in the e-auctioning of vehicles or other goods, stressing that the NCS Auction Committee operates within the confines of the law and strictly adheres to established guidelines and procedures for disposing of seized/overtime goods.
Addressing the specific claim of over 300 vehicles being auctioned to a single individual through purported underhand payments, Maiwada stated that such allegations were entirely false, misguided, and spurious. He clarified that the suggestion of a nominal sum of N10,000 being collected as duties to the Federal Government on the e-auction window, with a reserved price of N400,000, is misleading and a misrepresentation of facts.
Maiwada provided data from five successful bidding windows, revealing that 13,605 applicants registered on the e-auction portal, where 476 vehicles were uploaded, and 462 were won. The government reportedly realized N556,738,736 in revenue, raising questions about the source of the allegations.
Reaffirming the NCS’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law, Maiwada urged the public to collaborate with the service in promoting an inclusive system that is fair to all Nigerians, regardless of their status.
