The suspended officials are the State Secretary, Yusuf Alkali; Assistant State Financial Secretary (Central Zone), Abba Galadima; and State Publicity Secretary, Murtala Ali.
The decision was announced following an emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee on Tuesday in Sokoto. According to the committee, the action was taken after evidence surfaced linking the officials to anti-party activities, including breaches of trust and behavior considered threatening to party unity.
“These measures are necessary to protect the stability and progress of the ADC in Sokoto State,” the statement read. “Any conduct that jeopardizes the party’s unity will not be tolerated.”
The resolution was supported by 25 out of 33 members of the State Executive Council and signed on their behalf by Deputy Chairperson Bello Illela.
The faction also reaffirmed Bello Keegan as the legitimate Chairman of Sokoto ADC and warned Umar Mohammed against “parading himself” as the state party leader. Mohammed’s actions were described as “fraudulent, illegal, and intended to mislead the public,” with accusations that he sought to destabilize the party for personal gain.
“The Sokoto ADC recognizes only one chairman, and that is Bello Keegan,” the statement emphasized.
Factional disputes have led to parallel meetings and conflicting directives, escalating tensions within the state chapter. The committee stressed that reaffirming Keegan’s leadership and suspending the three officials were vital steps to restore order and enforce discipline within the party.
“The vote of confidence in Mr. Keegan is essential to maintaining unity, stability, and organizational discipline,” the statement added.
