Political Showmanship Won’t Work – Kaduna Govt Dismisses El-Rufai Allies’ Allegations
The Kaduna State Government has declared it will not be cowed by the allies of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at a press briefing, Commissioner of Information-designate Ahmed Maiyaki dismissed allegations of a plot to sabotage Saturday’s by-elections, describing them as “laughable lies from El-Rufai’s political leftovers.”
The ADC coalition, led by the party’s National Vice Chairman (North-West) Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, had accused Governor Uba Sani’s administration of planning to rig the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and the Zaria and Sabon-Gari State Constituency elections through thuggery, bribery of electoral officials, and vote buying.
In a swift rebuttal, Maiyaki branded the accusations as baseless, mischievous, and a desperate attempt to tarnish an election “they know they cannot win.” Flanked by Local Government Commissioner Sadiq Mamman-Lagos, he pointed to the coalition’s “poorly attended rallies” as proof of their rejection by voters, accusing them of “crying wolf where there is none” to save face ahead of defeat.
Maiyaki stressed that election conduct is solely the duty of INEC and accused the coalition of dragging the state government into “self-inflicted political misery.” He vowed that the administration would not stand by while “political opportunists smear our government and malign innocent officials with wild, unsubstantiated claims.”
Taking a swipe at El-Rufai, Maiyaki recalled an incident in which “the former governor sent thugs to the NUJ Secretariat, injuring several journalists,” insisting that such violence has no place under Governor Uba Sani’s leadership.
“As we speak,” he added, “the governor is in Chikun LGA flagging off the construction of the Romi–Karatudu Township Roads — a community abandoned and demolished under El-Rufai’s eight-year rule.”
According to Maiyaki, the coalition is rattled by Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive leadership, which he said has united the state and delivered tangible development.
“Democracy in Kaduna is alive and thriving,” he concluded, “and no amount of theatre from El-Rufai’s political leftovers in ADC will change that.”
