The Presidency emphasized on Thursday that state governments should take the lead in advancing the school feeding program, underscoring its role in enhancing the country’s education sector. Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on the School Feeding Program, made this assertion in Abuja.

Adeniji urged state governments to integrate the program into their agendas, highlighting its alignment with ongoing efforts to reform education. She spoke during a two-day workshop aimed at adapting the African Union Development Agency and New Partnership for African Development guidelines on school feeding for Nigerian states. The workshop, themed “Encouraging state-driven implementation and best practices for school feeding towards local agricultural value chain, community engagement and economic development,” gathered officials to strategize on effective implementation.

She stressed the imperative for states to spearhead feeding initiatives, citing disparities among states in program implementation. Adeniji emphasized that local managers and focal persons were best positioned to drive the initiative alongside school principals.
