In the video, Ganga—who has served for 16 years—was seen emotional as he pleaded with constituents and community leaders opposing his continued stay in office and calling for fresh representation.

He said, “You know I come from a humble background, but I have been able to do many things for you. I promise to do even better if given another opportunity.”

According to reports, six other aspirants have already purchased expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for the seat, intensifying competition ahead of the election.

The video has since triggered widespread reactions across social media, with users divided over his appeal.

Some commenters criticised the lawmaker’s emotional display, while others defended his record in office.

One user, Abubakar Hassan, wrote: “You now remember your poor background after disrespecting leaders. The governor will not spare you.”

Another, Comr Ismill, said: “As if the seat belongs to him alone. Let him cry all he wants until he loses.”

Mu’azu Hassan commented: “It’s not easy providing for a family. No food for lazy man.”

Mubarak Faje questioned: “Is the seat his family property or what?”

Yusuf Mikail D’Fresh added: “If he had done well, there would be no need for tears. He would have won unopposed.”

Anas Hamza wrote: “Step aside and let competent people take over.”

However, Lawan Modu defended him, stating that Ganga had contributed to youth empowerment and job creation in the constituency.

Others, like Muhammad Abba Kura, dismissed his emotional appeal, describing it as insincere, while Musa Yakubu Olagbaigbai urged him to step down after 16 years in office to allow fresh leadership.
