The lawmaker representing Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Jeremiah Umaru, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress), citing dissatisfaction with the party’s recently concluded primary elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Umaru, popularly known as Jakadan Wamba, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Gitta Ward in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The letter, dated May 28, 2026, stated that the outcome of the primaries left him disillusioned and unable to continue his political affiliation with the ruling party.

In the resignation letter, Umaru raised concerns about what he described as a steady decline in fairness, transparency, justice, and internal democracy within the party.

He said these values were originally part of what attracted many members to the APC and contributed to its growth over the years.

According to him, the conduct surrounding the primary elections had eroded his confidence in the party’s commitment to credible and inclusive democratic practices.

The lawmaker added that, despite his long-standing loyalty and investment of time and resources in the party, he was disappointed by what he called growing cases of imposition, manipulation, and disregard for members’ collective wishes.

Umaru stated that the process and outcome of the primaries convinced him that the APC was moving away from the principles that once earned it the trust of its supporters.

He further argued that internal party processes no longer reflected the democratic ideals expected in political participation.

“I can no longer, in good conscience, remain part of a system that fails to uphold fairness, credibility, and respect for the aspirations of dedicated members,” he said.

He maintained that his decision to leave the All Progressives Congress was based on principle and his belief that internal democracy must remain central to party politics.

Despite his exit, Umaru expressed appreciation to party members, leaders, and political associates he worked with during his time in the APC, as well as the opportunities he had while serving under its platform.

He also wished success to members who, in his view, remain committed to strengthening democratic values within the ruling party.
