Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, made the announcement on Friday at a press briefing held at the Bompai Police Headquarters, stressing the importance of ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festivities. According to CP Bakori, intelligence reports indicated potential threats associated with the Durbar, prompting authorities to implement preventive measures.

Based on credible intelligence about plans by miscreants and their sponsors to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities, the Command, in consultation with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, decided to ban all Durbar events across the state.

The police assured the public that security arrangements would be in place to ensure the safety of Eid prayers at designated locations. Worshippers were urged to adhere to security protocols, including refraining from carrying suspicious objects and complying with the ban on horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.

CP Bakori also appealed to parents and guardians to prevent their children from being manipulated by troublemakers and called on the public to uphold peace.

Additionally, the Police Command encouraged continued cooperation with security agencies and advised residents to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.

This decision follows an earlier move by the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who canceled his Sallah Durbar plans for the sake of peace. The decision came amid rising tensions, particularly after the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, began preparations for Sallah celebrations following a directive from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
