The National Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (NDC-PDP), chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi, has postponed its session for two weeks to give former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, and the party’s embattled National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, ample time to prepare for their hearings.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Chief Ikimi announced the adjournment after a three-hour closed-door meeting on Wednesday at Legacy House, located in Abuja’s Maitama District.
Addressing journalists post-meeting, Ikimi explained, “Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the former National Secretary, informed us through a letter that he is unwell, accompanied by medical documentation from his doctors.”
On the matter of Ortom, Ikimi stated, “Ortom claims he did not receive the invitation letter, but we have proof it was sent via DHL and acknowledged as received. Regardless, we want to ensure fairness. Therefore, we’ve rescheduled the sitting to March 4th, 2025.”
When questioned about whether the committee would investigate members accused of anti-party activities dating back to 2015, Ikimi clarified, “Our actions are petition-driven. Until we receive formal complaints, we cannot initiate invitations.”
According to Vanguard, insiders disclosed that the Benue State PDP Administrative Officer and C.T. Mue Chambers, the legal counsel representing Ortom, only received the summons on February 12, 2025—the same day Ortom was expected to appear before the committee.
Key committee members in attendance included former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, former Enugu State Governor Dr. Sam Egwu, and the committee’s Secretary, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
