The boat, carrying 50 traders and their merchandise, departed from Kasabo village and was en route to Yauri town for business activities on Monday when it was hit by strong waves and capsized.
In response to this tragic incident, former Vice President Atiku expressed his deep sadness and concern in a post on X on Wednesday.
He highlighted the increasing number of lives lost in boat accidents in the country, emphasizing the need for immediate and comprehensive measures to enhance the safety and regulation of Nigeria’s waterways.
His heartfelt condolences were extended to the families and loved ones of the victims who lost their lives in this boat accident.
He conveyed, “I am profoundly saddened by the tragic boat accident in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives.”
