“We will present to the committee aspects of the Universal Basic Education Act, 2004 that we believe hinder the smooth execution of the UBE program,” Dr. Bobboyi stated. Highlighting the Act’s age and the evolving landscape of education, he underscored the imperative for educational systems to address contemporary challenges effectively.

Former Ogun State Governor and current Senator, Gbenga Daniel, chaired the event and advocated for increased funding, technology integration, community involvement, and improved infrastructure in basic education. In support, Senator Lawal Usman, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary), emphasized equal access to quality education as fundamental to national development. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Secretary to the State Government Bimbo Salu-Hudeyin, echoed the commitment to achieving universal access to quality basic education, urging collaborative efforts to drive tangible improvements in the educational sector.
