Tinubu made the statement on Monday in Yola through Vice President Kashim Shettima during a grand reception marking Fintiri’s entry into the party.
According to the President, Fintiri’s alignment with the APC is a significant boost, particularly in the North-East, and reflects growing confidence in the party’s leadership and policies.
He also praised the governor’s achievements in infrastructure development, noting that the administration’s policies would continue to attract support and deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
Tinubu described Fintiri as a valuable addition to the ruling party, expressing confidence that his inclusion would help secure victories for the APC at all levels in future elections.
He further emphasised that in states governed by the APC, the sitting governor remains the party’s leader, making it clear that Fintiri now leads the party structure in Adamawa State.
Also speaking at the event, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said Fintiri’s move has weakened the opposition and urged party members in Adamawa to unite behind him ahead of the 2027 polls.
In his response after receiving the APC flag, Fintiri explained that his decision was more of a strategic alliance than a defection, stating that he aligned with the federal government to support national development and economic progress.
