The person who should be the Senate’s number nine striker is the one under attack,” he said.
Tsado praised Senator Natasha’s impact despite the challenges she faces, describing her as a beacon of hope for many Nigerians and someone the Senate should revere.
“She continues to touch lives and inspire young people. Rather than ostracizing her, the Senate should be applauding her achievements and calling her their ‘star girl,’” he remarked.
Challenging the Senate’s stance, Tsado questioned their insistence on waiting for the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court judgment before allowing her return. “Would they also wait for a CTC if the judgment ordered her imprisonment?” he asked pointedly.
Referencing a recent poll by the Africa Polling Institute (API) that revealed 82% of Nigerians have no confidence in the Senate, Tsado lamented the institution’s declining credibility.
“It’s disgraceful that we’ve reduced serious national matters to such petty theatrics. From the beginning, the Senate mishandled Natasha’s case. For a woman to overcome so many barriers to enter the Senate is commendable—and yet, she’s being sidelined over technicalities,” he said.
He further criticized the Senate’s decision to suspend Senator Natasha for a period exceeding the 14 days permitted by its own rules, calling it unlawful.
“If Natasha could be fined ₦5 million for contempt without delay, why the sudden emphasis on procedure when the court ruled in her favor?” he asked.
Tsado urged the Senate to correct its actions and uphold justice: “They’ve clearly acted outside their constitutional powers. It’s time they took responsibility. Nigerians are tired of this political theatre. Let’s move on to the issues that truly matter.”
