Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Musa explained that highly sophisticated munitions, including Tomahawk missiles, were used in the operation, leaving no visible physical evidence of those neutralised.
According to him, “They wouldn’t know because of the manner in which they were taken out. With the kind of weapons used, you wouldn’t see anything. It was a new category of weaponry, including Tomahawks.”
Addressing claims that some of the missiles may not have detonated, the defence minister said such occurrences were intentional and part of established military tactics.
“In warfare, deception is a key strategy. Some of these things are deliberate and are all part of operational tactics,” he explained.
Musa further disclosed that while the US-led strikes were ongoing, Nigerian security forces were simultaneously conducting coordinated offensives on other targets across the country.
He assured Nigerians that the joint operations had already recorded significant successes and that more progress would be evident in the coming days.
“Nigerians are already seeing results, and they should expect even more. As we speak, the Nigerian Air Force, Navy and Army have been actively neutralising threats in several other areas. From the beginning of January alone, a great deal has been achieved,” he said.
