The APC stated that the Kano State government’s alleged efforts to malign Justice Azinge through the dissemination of a fabricated story and selective quoting were disrespectful to both the judge and the judiciary at large.

A statement released in Kano by Malam Muhammad Garba, the former Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs and spokesperson for the Gawuna/Gari Campaign Council, emphasized that Justice Azinge did not specifically name any party when she revealed an alleged attempt to bribe a member of the Tribunal.

The APC questioned why the NNPP singled out the opposition party as the alleged wrongdoer in an attempt to tarnish the reputation of the APC.

Garba further pointed out that the Kano State government might be trying to preempt the revelation of the actual bribe giver by discrediting the judge.

He argued that the fabricated narrative, featured in a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, indicated an attempt to vilify the Tribunal prior to its final judgement, potentially seeking sympathy from the public in the event of an unfavorable outcome.

Highlighting the NNPP’s apparent perplexity, Garba mentioned that the party had filed an appeal while the Tribunal’s proceedings were still ongoing. However, he clarified that this action would not hinder the Tribunal from continuing its proceedings until a final judgement is delivered.
