Abbas collapsed during his screening after reading his profile and answering questions from lawmakers about why they should confirm him.

The incident prompted the Senate to convene a closed session and call for medical assistance to revive the ministerial nominee.

After a few minutes, Abbas was successfully resuscitated and transported out of the Senate Chamber in an ambulance.

In response to the incident, Akpabio stated that Balarabe admitted to feeling exhausted, as he had been overworked in the days leading up to the screening. However, he insisted on continuing with the screening, asserting that he was fit to do so.

In related news, the Nigerian Senate has confirmed three more ministerial nominees appointed by President Bola Tinubu. The confirmed nominees are Balarabe Abbas Lawal from Kaduna State, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State, and Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
