During a recent meeting at the Government House in Yenagoa, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, representing Governor Douye Diri, affirmed the state’s commitment to supporting BOI’s initiatives. The government has already allocated temporary office spaces to expedite the bank’s operational launch in Bayelsa.
Highlighting the urgency of the partnership, Ewhrudjakpo emphasized Bayelsa’s readiness to capitalize on BOI’s resources to enhance local industrial capacities. He urged BOI to provide a list of Bayelsans who previously sought loans but faced challenges meeting the bank’s criteria, promising swift governmental intervention.
Kings Jack, Divisional Head of BOI for South-South and South-East, underscored Bayelsa’s unique status as the only South-South state where BOI operations are not fully established. Jack outlined the bank’s intent to collaborate closely with the state government to kickstart initiatives that promote industrial development.
The BOI delegation, including Seun Olagunju (Group Head, Strategic Communications), Irabor Pacqueens (Regional Manager, South-South), and Ojiegbe Uchechukeu (State Manager), expressed readiness to advise on policy frameworks crucial for driving economic growth in Bayelsa.
This partnership marks a significant step towards harnessing the state’s economic potential and fostering sustainable development through robust industrial initiatives.
