This task force will consist of representatives from various law enforcement agencies operating within the state.

The initial objective of the task force is to engage with key stakeholders to garner their support for the concerted effort against illegal mining.

In the past year alone, the Ilorin zonal command has achieved the conviction of five illegal mining operators and recovered substantial sums from this sector. Nzekwe assured that the EFCC would persist in its pursuit of justice.

In response, the permanent secretary voiced the state government’s backing for the EFCC’s endeavors against unlawful mining practices.

Olarewaju commended the EFCC’s campaign against illegal miners, emphasizing that this cause deserves the endorsement and encouragement of all citizens.

He encouraged the anti-graft agency not to be deterred by the counteractions of corrupt individuals who profit from illicit operations, underscoring that corruption invariably fights back.

Olarewaju underscored the state government’s resolute support for the EFCC’s mission to eradicate illegal mining across the state’s 16 local government areas.

He shared insights into the prevalence of illegal mining, stating that approximately 230 mining operators operate within the state. Curiously, none of these operators have undertaken the process to revalidate their licenses, as reported by Olarewaju.
