Explosive Warning: US Lawmaker Tells Bola Tinubu To Sack Top Minister Immediately Nigerians React
A United States lawmaker, Kimberly Daniels, has urged President Bola Tinubu to either redeploy or remove the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, over concerns about Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Daniels made the appeal in a statement shared on her Facebook page, citing conclusions from a recent security assessment report.
Her comments come amid renewed attacks in parts of the North-Central and North-West regions during the 2026 Easter period, which led to casualties in Plateau, Kaduna, and Nasarawa states.
According to her, the report revealed a widening gap between official assurances and the realities experienced by communities affected by violence. She added that testimonies from local leaders and survivors pointed to ongoing insecurity, including attacks on religious gatherings during Palm Sunday and Easter celebrations.
Daniels said the findings raised serious concerns about Matawalle’s continued stay in office, pointing to questions about his experience and allegations linked to his time as governor of Zamfara State.
She called on the Federal Government to carry out a leadership review within the defence ministry, stressing the need to strengthen national security.
In her words, the assessment recommends that President Tinubu take decisive action to remove individuals whose presence could undermine security efforts, specifically suggesting the redeployment or removal of Matawalle to restore confidence in the ministry.
The lawmaker also urged authorities to launch a transparent investigation into allegations of high-level involvement in banditry, while calling for better protection for vulnerable communities.
She further appealed to the United States and other international partners to increase diplomatic pressure on Nigeria to ensure accountability.
Daniels added that concerns about internal collaboration in some attacks make the situation even more troubling.
She also revealed that House Resolution 761, which seeks to redesignate Nigeria as a country of particular concern over religious freedom, has gained bipartisan backing in the Florida legislature.
Daniels said her stance was influenced by concerns raised by Nigerians who have reached out to her about the situation in the country.
