The Federal Government had recently approved the allocation of N5 billion to each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to facilitate the purchase of food items for distribution among the impoverished in their respective regions.
The announcement was made by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State following the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting. Additionally, Zulum disclosed that the government had provided each of the 36 state governors with five trucks of rice.
Falana’s viewpoint contends that the President should be addressing the underlying cause of the economic turmoil, which he identifies as the dollarization of the nation’s economy.
He further criticized the Central Bank of Nigeria’s decision to float the Naira on the foreign market. In his estimation, the majority of the interventions, including the announced palliatives, are merely temporary and at times diversionary measures, not addressing the fundamental issues at play in the country’s economic scenario.
