The statement, issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu, quoted Buhari as saying, “I write on behalf of my family and myself to convey our deepest sympathies and condolences to you and the people of the Kingdom of Morocco following the devastating earthquake that struck your nation on September 8, 2023.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives and property resulting from the earthquake.
“I stand in unity with Your Majesty and the Moroccan people during this challenging period and offer prayers for the swift recovery of those affected by this tragic event. May the departed souls rest in peace, and may Allah bring comfort and solace to those impacted.
“While reiterating my condolences, Your Majesty, please accept my highest regards and respect.”
The letter, personally signed by the former President, was dispatched to the Royal Palace in Rabat, Morocco.
