Hon. Jibril, representing the Ajaokuta constituency, emphasized that the Assembly would no longer tolerate any unethical practices related to land, housing, and mining in the state.
He stated, “The committee system plays a pivotal role in the legislative process, functioning as the operational machinery of the legislative institution.
Its effectiveness ensures the separation of powers, allowing oversight of the activities of other branches of government on behalf of the people and facilitating the acquisition of essential information to enhance the restructuring of the state’s statutory framework.”
Hon. Jibril further underscored the sensitivity of land-related issues and cited examples of land-related problems in Lokoja metropolis.
He expressed the Assembly’s determination to address these challenges, including land hoarding and multiple sales of the same land to different individuals. The Assembly aims to collaborate with the executive branch to bring these issues to a satisfactory resolution.
