In a statement released on Friday, eleven Assembly members, including two high-ranking officials, distanced themselves from a recent communication directed to Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola.
This letter had requested the establishment of a panel to investigate Aiyedatiwa.
The second letter to the Chief Judge was dispatched approximately a week after the Ondo lawmakers had initially announced the abandonment of impeachment proceedings against Aiyedatiwa.
This decision came after the intervention of the national leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
The eleven lawmakers expressed their shock at the report of the fresh letter sent to the Chief Judge, maintaining that the Assembly had already abandoned the intended impeachment of the deputy governor.
However, House Majority Leader Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, in a statement to reporters over the weekend, refuted claims of division among Assembly members regarding Aiyedatiwa’s impeachment.
The majority leader acknowledged that some individuals are attempting to exploit political dynamics to create divisions among lawmakers but emphasized that the House remained united in its determination to investigate and impeach the deputy governor.
