Nigerian Army Rescue Another Chibok Schoolgirl In Borno

Identified as Mary Nkeki, the rescued girl was found in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno on August 14. Mary Nkeki, listed as serial number 55 among the abducted Chibok girls, had been forcibly married to a Boko Haram fighter while in captivity.

Upon her rescue, the 27-year-old Nkeki underwent comprehensive medical assessment and received necessary care at a military medical facility. She was then handed over to the Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs for further support and reintegration.

The Theatre Commander emphasized the Nigerian military’s unwavering commitment to addressing security challenges in the North East and restoring lasting peace to the region.

During her interaction with the media, Mary Nkeki shared her harrowing experience of suffering and hardship during her captivity with the terrorists. She revealed that she had left two fellow Chibok girls behind.

During her time in captivity, she bore two children fathered by her husband, Adam, who she later escaped with from the Boko Haram enclave.

When asked about her marital status, Nkeki stated, “I already have a husband. I am married to Adam. We fled from captivity together.

” Following their escape, Nkeki and her husband reached a location where they were rescued by Nigerian troops.

This rescue marks the sixteenth successful liberation of abducted Chibok girls by Nigerian troops in recent months. The Nigerian Army remains committed to addressing insurgency and upholding the safety and security of the citizens in the region.
