During a condolence visit to the Owa Obokun palace, where he expressed sympathies for the late Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, Adeleke claimed to the traditional council that he had not only facilitated the university’s establishment but also ensured funding for its launch.

However, Oyetola refuted these claims during his visit on Monday, stating that it was his administration that established the university and secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) prior to forming its governing council.

Represented by Bola Oyebamiji, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Oyetola labeled Adeleke’s statements as false, calling it “mischief” to distort established facts regarding the university’s creation.

“There is no controversy over this. Oyetola’s government established the Ilesa University. If anyone has contrary information, they should present it with facts rather than through propaganda,” he stated. “It is on record that my administration engaged the necessary parties to establish the university, and we received NUC approval before forming the Governing Board.

“No Governing Board can be constituted without NUC approval, so if it’s undeniable that Oyetola’s government constituted the Governing Council, then the insinuations against us are baseless and illogical. I am confident that the people of Ijesaland can attest to these facts. We have verifiable documents to support our claims, and we will make them public when the time is right. It is unfortunate that some individuals are so petty as to claim what is not theirs.
