Shock In Edo: University Expels 34 Students For Exam Malpractice Scandal!

The university disclosed that the Mobile Students Disciplinary Committee of the College of Medicine found the students guilty of various exam-related offenses during the 2022/2023 academic session.
In a bulletin signed by F.O. Omoigui, Deputy Registrar (Senate), on behalf of the Acting Registrar, and Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika, Principal Assistant Registrar for Information and Public Relations, it was noted that six students were exonerated, two were cautioned to maintain good behavior, and one received an official warning.
The affected students, mostly in their third and fifth years, were penalized based on findings from a preliminary investigation by the disciplinary committee set up to examine the malpractice cases.
According to the bulletin:
“Following thorough review of the reports submitted by the Mobile Disciplinary Committee (College of Medicine), the university management has approved the recommended sanctions for the offences committed during the 2022/2023 session.”
The rusticated students span various departments, including Haematology, Histopathology, Medical Microbiology, Medicine, Physiology, Chemical Pathology, Medicine and Surgery, and FMLS.
Specifically, 21 students received two-semester rustications, while 13 others were suspended for four semesters. Among the fifth-year students, 12 were rusticated for two semesters, and eight for four semesters.
The malpractice included the use of unauthorized written materials during the HAE 503 exam, with some students found in possession of portions of university answer booklets containing pre-written answers.
