Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, raised this issue while challenging Ajaero’s assertion that he was advocating for the state’s workers.
Onanuga responded to Ajaero’s meeting with the Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate in the state, Athan Achuonu, by expressing his concern that the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had been misled by Ajaero’s claims of advocating for workers.
An online user, @DavidsOffor, had shared a post showing Joe Ajaero in a celebratory mood with Imo State’s Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Athan Achuonu. The user accused Ajaero of disrupting the state due to his strong desire to see Achuonu, who is not widely popular, win the upcoming election on Saturday.
The user further criticized Ajaero for his alleged high-handedness and the negative impact it has had on Imo State, including power outages, fuel shortages, and strikes by teachers and health workers.
The user questioned why Ajaero was focusing on just his home state when off-season elections were happening in other places as well.
In response, Onanuga stated that Joe Ajaero, along with the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, was involved in partisan politics in Imo.
He emphasized that Ajaero’s claim to be fighting for all workers in the state was not accurate and criticized the TUC for accepting Ajaero’s assertions.
