Tension In Kano: Deposed Emir Sanusi Returns In ‘Presidential Jet’, Arrest Ordered By State GovernmentKano was gripped by tension yesterday after the return of deposed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II to the state. Governor Abba Yusuf immediately ordered his arrest, citing concerns over potential unrest.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Governor Yusuf stated that the arrest order was issued due to the alleged smuggling of the former Emir, who, according to the deputy governor of the state, Aminu Gwarzo, flew into Kano on a presidential plane. The return was reportedly facilitated by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, in an attempt to reclaim the throne. Ribadu has denied these allegations.

The governor emphasized that Sanusi’s return has sparked fears of a possible breakdown of law and order in the state. The situation is further complicated by accusations against former state governor and current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, of using federal influence to support Sanusi’s return.

In his first public statement since being deposed, Sanusi expressed hope for justice in the ongoing emirship tussle. He urged his supporters to remain calm and peaceful, assuring them that he would respect the law and await the outcome of the legal process.

Speaking at a mini-palace in Kano, Sanusi called on authorities to ensure justice prevails in the matter. He said, “I call on the people to remain law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of the legal process in this tussle.”

The Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has warned that the ongoing Kano emirship conflict could lead to anarchy if not addressed promptly. The organization stressed the need for a peaceful resolution to prevent further instability in the state.
