Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, dismissed Kwankwaso’s claims as baseless, stating that the Tinubu administration is not favoring the South over the North in its development agenda.
He emphasized that all ongoing infrastructure projects should be seen as national efforts, not as benefits reserved for any particular region.
“We must begin to view these developments as national projects, not northern or southern projects,” Abdulaziz said. “The key question should be: what value do these projects bring to the economy, not where they are located.”
Addressing the specific allegation that the administration has sidelined northern projects—such as the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway—Abdulaziz insisted that the claim was misleading. He stressed that the siting of federal projects is driven by their economic significance and potential to benefit the country as a whole.
He added, “Justice and fairness are vital, and this administration has demonstrated both. No one can credibly claim that President Tinubu has been unjust to any region.”
The presidency’s latest response follows Kwankwaso’s recent criticism, where he alleged that Tinubu’s government has concentrated development initiatives in the South, the President’s home region.
In a coordinated rebuttal, various presidential aides—including Daniel Bwala and Sunday Dare—also countered the allegations, accusing Kwankwaso of spreading misinformation in a bid to remain politically relevant.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, went further to challenge the former governor to stop misleading Nigerians, listing several projects currently underway in the North as proof of the government’s balanced approach.
