In recent years, the prevalence of illegal mining in Zamfara has exacerbated banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
Governor Lawal, as conveyed in a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, emphasized the urgent need to halt this destructive activity and implement measures aimed at safeguarding the safety and welfare of the state’s residents.
He emphasized that security personnel have received explicit orders to take decisive action, including using lethal force if necessary, against anyone caught engaging in illegal mining.
Governor Lawal stated, “This directive is essential to ensure the safety and security of the law-abiding citizens of Zamfara and to deter potential wrongdoers from participating in such activities.”
“It is also a prompt response to empower the state government to exert full control over its resources and to counter activities that jeopardize the lives and properties of our citizens.”
