Former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to show courage and take decisive action against the subsidy cartels, holding them accountable for their actions.

During a Thanksgiving church service in Kaduna, Dogara praised President Tinubu for the removal of fuel subsidies, hailing it as a positive departure from the past. However, he emphasized the need for the President to utilize his authority to recover the embezzled funds from the subsidy cartels.

“We support him in the removal of subsidies, but he must have the courage to go after the subsidy cartels, recover the stolen money, and prosecute them accordingly,” Dogara stated.

Furthermore, Dogara commended President Tinubu for his leadership in appointing service chiefs, emphasizing the President’s commitment to inclusivity regardless of party affiliation, ethnicity, or religion.

Senator Sunday Marshal Katung, representing Southern Kaduna, also praised President Tinubu for the appointment of the new service chiefs, considering it a demonstration of equity and justice. Senator Katung urged the newly appointed service chiefs to address the prevailing insecurity issues in the country, particularly in the northern region, and called on the President to provide palliatives to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, the President of ECWA and Vice President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), echoed the sentiments of commendation towards President Tinubu for removing fuel subsidies and appointing service chiefs. Rev. Panya acknowledged the President’s deliberate efforts to avoid lopsided appointments that had been observed in previous administrations.
