Nasarawa State To Provide Six-Month Stipend And Other Palliatives To Civil Servants Amid Subsidy Removal

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has announced a series of palliative measures to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal on civil servants in both state and local government employment. In addition to the stipend for civil servants, Governor Sule revealed that state and local government pensioners would receive a monthly payment of N5,000 each for the same six-month period. The state government will also procure buses to reduce transportation costs for the people.

Furthermore, beneficiaries of the 50kg bags of rice distributed as part of the palliatives will receive an additional N5,000.

Governor Sule explained that these measures are part of the federal government’s initiative to alleviate the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Nasarawa State is set to receive a total of N5 billion, a portion of which has already been released in the form of cash and grains, with the remainder expected to follow. The state government has also repackaged 50kg bags of rice into 7.5kg bags to reach more people more quickly.
