The attack led to the kidnapping of numerous individuals and a temporary suspension of train operations along the route by the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC).

The leaked letter, titled “Security Alert: Impending Threat By A Coalition Of Banditry Syndicate To Attack Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Along AKTS Corridor,” bore the signature of DSS Director of FCT Command, R.N. Adepemu. It highlighted the DSS’s caution for passengers to exercise heightened vigilance due to an imminent attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train service by a coalition of banditry syndicates. The goal of the attack was purportedly to abduct passengers for ransom.

In connection with the leaked memo, a credible source within the Nigerian Railway Corporation disclosed to The PUNCH that Pascal Nnorli was taken into custody alongside Victor Adamu, the Operations Manager, and other staff members. While Victor was subsequently released, Pascal remains in custody.

According to the NRC source, “Victor is a victim of circumstances because they met him in Pascal’s office, so they arrested him together with all Pascal’s staff and took them to the DSS office. Pascal is still there now.”

The source revealed that the arrest could be linked to the leak of the sensitive DSS memo, which was apparently addressed to the Managing Director of the NRC. The DSS reportedly explicitly warned that the memo’s leakage could lead to arrests.

Although the exact reasons behind the arrests remain uncertain, the source suggested that the leaked letter contained comprehensive information about the Abuja-Kaduna attack and attributed its dissemination to Pascal’s office.
