In the preceding year, the revenue target for 2023 was set at N801.5 billion, and the command successfully collected N716.5 billion, achieving 89 percent of the target. This translates to a monthly target of N94.23 billion, requiring a weekly collection of N21.7 billion and a daily collection of N4.23 billion. Nnadi emphasized the commitment of the officers and men of the command, along with the support of stakeholders, to meet these challenging targets.

Highlighting the historical performance of the command, Nnadi pointed out that the weekly target in 2023 was N66 billion. Still, from June to December, they consistently surpassed this, averaging N76 billion, indicating that the increased target for 2024 is achievable.

In declaring 2024 as the “year of stakeholders,” the Comptroller expressed optimism that stakeholders would reciprocate the goodwill by adhering to appropriate duty declarations and compliance. Nnadi underscored the significance of expeditious cargo clearance, stating that strategies would be devised to ensure that freight forwarders’ cargo does not incur demurrage, particularly given Nigeria’s status as an import-oriented economy.
